From Chile’s mystical Elqui Valley emerges an exceptional ultra-premium white spirit, handcrafted from Moscato grapes distilled from pure Andean Mountain water exclusively from the House of Marnier Lapostolle.
The Marnier Lapostolle family, makers of Grand Marnier® for seven generations, introduces the new luxury, ultra-premium white spirit, KAPPA®, from the Elqui Valley in Chile. The Marnier Lapostolle company was founded in France in 1827 and it is owned and operated by the fifth, sixth and seventh generations of the family who employ the same care of quality as their forebears. The company produces a portfolio of luxury spirits and wines and is best known for Grand Marnier liqueur, yet, the family also produces Lapostolle wines from Chile and Château de Sancerre wines from the Loire Valley.
What Is Pisco?
Pisco is the national drink in Chile with over 5 million cases consumed annually. Pisco is only produced in two countries, Chile and Peru. Like Cognac, where Marnier Lapostolle’s roots began, Chilean Pisco is a spirit made from the double distillation of wine. However, unlike Cognac which must be aged in oak, Chilean Pisco can be either aged or unaged.
Elqui Valley
Our grapes are sourced from the Elqui Valley. The Elqui Valley is located in Vicuña, Chile, in the northern part of Chile. It is an area of great contrast, between stark desert mountains and fertile valley. With a privileged climate, this area is a perfect region for agriculture and especially for the cultivation of grapes for Pisco production. The valley has 300 days of sunshine a year and fresh water from the Andes Mountains. Its skies are one of the clearest in the southern hemisphere. It’s free from pollution and is home to two pristine major astronomical observatories. We use only the most noble and aromatic grape varieties including Pink Muscat (Rosé) and Alexandria Muscat, which are grown organically and sourced from the valley.
Our Name:
The name KAPPA is derived from the Southern Cross Constellation which is found above the Elqui Valley and is visible in the night sky. Within the Constellation is the Kappa Crucis star cluster, also referred to as the Jewel Box, which is considered one of the finest objects in the Southern Hemisphere.
